Despite the warm weather, it is almost two weeks until Thanksgiving. I’m eager for our holiday travel back to Boston and obviously counting off the days. Still one needs to enjoy the journey, and I saw this spray painted on a raised sewer hatch today while walking the dogs. Could be like Hugo on “Lost” and play them – but that didn’t work out to well for him.

My fall intro course ended this past Sunday. My students created some great pieces in a very short time. One of them, Zeena, did some prints on canvas bags with the phrase, “What would Foucault do” along with an image of the author. Before washing out the emulsion, we both took camera phone photos of the stencil and ink residue. This is my version after a fun with Photoshop.

Our Jack-a-Bea mix Bodie is bit people shy. He likes the added solitude that the fall temperatures provide in the park. He’s like his Daddy that way. Here he is gaining some extra perspective just to make sure.

Dr Wifey was teaching an Adobe Fireworks class on-line and I was her control subject. This was my pink floyd moment with the program. My favorite aspect that you don’t have with Photoshop or Illustrator is that you can use the pen tool to make selections.

Autumn is in the air and this lifts my spirits:

This was taken at the end of August when I was home in Boston. Yes, I said home even though we live in Baltimore. It’s only a matter of time, years or decade, but the exile shall end. In the meantime, we go up and see our families, keep up with the changes and enjoy the cuisine. This photo was shot down by the Fort Point Channel. This semester Jill Zevenbergen from VCU is filling in as Lithography instructor. Though I love how metal photo plates work, I’m eager to observe the Pronto Plate process.

One of the biggest black marks that Hilary Clinton had to carry with her, rightly or wrongly, during her campaign was that she got blamed for it failing to happen during her husband’s presidency. If President Obama doesn’t achieve it, the Republican’s will be blasting him in 2012. Now the battle is on! The Blue Dog Democrats are slowly siding with the Republicans to obstruct giving us true Health Care Reform. They are trying to fool us with “In Name Only” reform with phrases like the “Trigger Option.” Well that would be like giving a child a loaded gun again, after putting a band-aid on his gushing temple. I thought this last election made it pretty clear that the American people want our elected officials to come together and solve this problem.

This coming week, I’m teaching a continuing ed class at the Corcoran College of Art. We have 5 days of down and dirty screenprinting. Newbies will learn the basic mechanics of pulling a print, and will be good to go if they sign up for credit courses. Hopefully we will have a limited amount of screen rips.
