Santa baby

Mother in law has left the city. I feel like Santa looks here.  I think I’m more of a winter solstice celebrator. You know this war on christmas crap… how come the religious right just doesn’t go for broke and insist that everyone goes around saying happy Jesus’ birthday? Anyway, had a very nice and secular X-mas day in Philly. So, I say to everyone good tidings for the new year and hope no one owns stock.

Fortress Baltimore

No, not Fort McHenry, but the cozy rowhouse we rent in Charm (or Harm) city. It is in a little oasis called Oakenshawe, which we were happy to find after first looking in a variety of unpleasant neighborhoods. Where we live, you go two streets over and you may easily find trouble, go in the other direction and you have mansions with private security patrols. All and all we like it. The dogs miss having a big back yard, but they get plenty of long walks thru posh Guilford. Oh anyone selling a shotgun at discount???

Ocean-Size

How deep can one dive into the sea of limbo? We are waiting to hear about a fantastic apartment in Baltimore. So we wait over this quiet weekend for the landlord to return from his vacation and for word that may help us visualize what awaits us at the end of this transitional funnel. Then we can shoot the piers.

Urban bright

Well Dr. Wifey has scored a nice job at Johns Hopkins, so we are moving out of cow country and down to Baltimore. All though every move is stressful, even when you move around like as often as a gypsy, we have great hope that the new environs will have a lot to offer. We may even actually break out of our cocoons and leave the house! Being a great fan of rust and the decay of civilization, I’m sure Baltimore will provide a lot of images to base some prints off. We had seriously looked into moving back to Massachusetts, but the high cost of living was a real challenge. Never-the-less, I will not turn into a Ravens fan but remain faithful to the Pats even if they slide down the standings now that there surveillance system has been shutdown. My only regret in moving is that I won’t have the opportunity to vote to throw Senator Specter out of office. Not just because he is focused on the NFL spy-gate, but that he seems to think it is more important than investigating and holding hearings on the government’s domestic spying!

Primary Reflection

So super-duper-monster Tuesday is over, and next up is the so-called Chesapeake Primary. We will see if Virginia, Maryland and DC, will vote like there DelMarVA neighbor and give Obama the delegate momentum. Since Dutch country doesn’t vote until April, I have half a mind to keep my vote in Virginia. Then again – if it comes down to it, Pennsylvania may just be a factor even with it’s late voting. What’s a boy to do?

Let the chips fall where they may

Sometimes life is like watching paint dry. Now as an artist that has it’s place: a time of repose where ideas generate. But the more exciting metaphor is when the paint starts to chip off. That is the time of activity and metamorphosis. I feel the time of actually starting to create is coming around again.
