My fall intro course ended this past Sunday. My students created some great pieces in a very short time. One of them, Zeena, did some prints on canvas bags with the phrase, “What would Foucault do” along with an image of the author. Before washing out the emulsion, we both took camera phone photos of the stencil and ink residue. This is my version after a fun with Photoshop.

Well Dr. Wifey has scored a nice job at Johns Hopkins, so we are moving out of cow country and down to Baltimore. All though every move is stressful, even when you move around like as often as a gypsy, we have great hope that the new environs will have a lot to offer. We may even actually break out of our cocoons and leave the house! Being a great fan of rust and the decay of civilization, I’m sure Baltimore will provide a lot of images to base some prints off. We had seriously looked into moving back to Massachusetts, but the high cost of living was a real challenge. Never-the-less, I will not turn into a Ravens fan but remain faithful to the Pats even if they slide down the standings now that there surveillance system has been shutdown. My only regret in moving is that I won’t have the opportunity to vote to throw Senator Specter out of office. Not just because he is focused on the NFL spy-gate, but that he seems to think it is more important than investigating and holding hearings on the government’s domestic spying!

Communication breakdown

Although he isn’t my pick for prez. I would like to give a hearty hand clap to Senator Christopher Dodd for showing some leadership and spine by threatening to filibuster the latest FISA bill which would have given the telecom industry retro-active immunity for helping Curious George & Co. with listening in on our phone calls without a warrant. Maybe Obama or Edwards could pick him for VP, or at least AG.

Capt. America throws his mighty shield

You ever get the feeling that our Nation has been turned inside out. Not the everyday life – but what we stand for in this world. We of Alternative America need to rally and protect our ideals from the jingoistic bastards who are trashing the Constitution. Ever notice that THEY get upset about symbolic burnings of the flag – well no one ever symbolically burns the Constitution. The present administration unfortunately is actually destroying our most precious document!
